His wife managed the business- He became ill and was out of employment, which resulted in his getting into debt. The small profits from the store were not sufficient to support his family. He had been summoned several times recently, and was compelled to file. He had five children, the eldest fifteen years of age. 5 It was decided that the stock-in-trade should be sold by auction, that the debtor should be allowed to retain the furniture, valued at £75, and that no opposition should be offered to his discharge.
