Under the circumstances the Magistrate said ho had ho option but to send accused to gaol. A sentence of one year's imprisonment would bo imposed. A further remand to May 26 was granted in the case of Henry Thomas JL'.UToil, charged with bigamy and incest. There was also an application for maintenance and guardianship orders against the accused. A charge against Annie Homefsham (Mr White) of a' breach of the Mental Defectives Act, 1911, in having kept an unregistered home for the treatment of mental defectives was adjourned sino die. William Anderson, £'3S in armors under a, maintenance aider requiring him to contribute £1 a week to the support of hifl wifo and three children, was f-enteneo'd to six mouths' imprisonment, no warrant to bo issued provided defendant paid 5s a week off the arrears and complied with the terms of the order.

John Hayes, who denied that he was in arrears under a maintenance order requiring him to support hifl wifo and children, was ordered to pay the arrears, £5, forthwith, in default one month's imprisonment. Leono Domenico Serrn, £l7 5s in arrears -under a maintenance, order in favour of his wifo, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, no warrant to be issued until applied for. Alfred Langley Philip Gibbons applied for the variation of a maintenance order requiring mm to contribute £1 a week towards his wife's support, and tho wife charged her husband with disobeying the terms of the order. Tho Magistrate declined to malco any variation and ordered Gibbons to pay forthwith the sum of £5 that was due.
