GRAIN" AND PRODUCE. Little change has to be noted sine* last week in the grain and produce markets. Oats ccntinuo to bo in firm demand, with no alteration in prices. Potatoes have Blackened, tho supply being greater than the demand, and the shipping shortage further curtailing business. Prices have fallen and £3 15s to £1 now represents the average rates offered, neither dealers nor growers being keeiit to do business. Present prospects suggest that quotations will .urther declino. and Home growers have commenced pitting. Onions are in weak demand, and the poor keeping quality of some of the offerings does ■ not increase the buyers' eagerness. The following are tho latest quotations:— Milling wheat, according to Government prices—Tuscan, 7b 3d f.0.b.; Hunters, 7s 6d, Ivan, 7s Did. Thero was a full attendance at tho (Ra,ngi» ora market yesterday. The yarding of fat sheep comprised 417 .lambs, 825 ewes and 233 wethers. Tho quality of tho greater portion oi tho entry was below a good standard, and prices ruled accordingly, the best fat lambs selling at about equal to last Wiook's quotations, viz., 28s to 80s, lighter sorts making 24s te 26s 9d. Tho yarding of fat sheep at Ashburton yesterday comprised 1366 owes, 269 wethers and 619 lambs. There was a good attondiauoe, bidding was fairly brisk and for anything of prime quality the tone of the market was very firm. The top priwa for ewes was 28s for a small lot sold on account of Messrs Capon Brothers, of Wincbmore, whilo a particularly good lino of 62 lambs sold on behalf of Mr it. EGGS. Messrs Harris Bros, report that at tho weekly snlo of guaranteed fresh eggs on account of the Canterbury Egg Farmers Association was hold yesterday at Messrs Harris Bros.' auction rooms, 158, Hereford Street. There waa a very largo entry of eggs of all grades, and a ?ood attendance of buyers. Competition was good, and all lots sold at the following prices:—First grade hen eggs from 2b 7d to 2s 9d; second grade from 2s 5d to 2s 6d; ducks' 2s 3d; pullets' 2s to 2s Id.
