MEXICO CITY, May 17. _ Carranza's last stand was an heroio spectacle- Without water or food, outnumbered and surrounded, the Carraneists fought desperately against overwhelming" oddß, General Murguia and Carranza personallv leading charges, by which finally a way was cut for escape to the mountains. The rebels pay generous tribute to Carranza's heroism. His horse was shot under him, but ho remounted and continued the battle.
