Reports from ill oxico City state that tho whereabouts of Carranza .still is unknown- Another report states that Carranza ha 3 arrived at Vera Cruz. (Received May 17, 8.40 p.m.), WASHINGTON. May 16. Huerta, provisional President of Mexico, lias telegraphed that Carranza, with a small escort, has fled in the direction of the mountains at Vera Cruz, where the revolutionary forces are pursuing him. (Received May 18, 1.15 a.m.) MEXICO CITY, May 16.
The Revolutionists captured two thousand prisoners, twenty-four trains, four pieces of artillery, two hundred machine-guns and a great quantity of ammunition and gold and silver bars. Fighting began on Friday morning. After three hours’ battle Carranza and leading members of his party abandoned their trains and fled in automobiles, escorted by five hundred cavalry. Rebel cavalry are pursuing. Unconfirmed reports on Friday said that Carranza had been captured.
