BOXING.
RENOWN v. CANTERBURY. The programme of boxing contests at tha Choral Hall last evening, botween tho champions of H.M.S. Renown’s crew and Canterbury representatives, attracted a large attendance. Tho displays were interesting' throughout, and on tho whole a good standard of skill was maintained. Colonel Chaffey was referee, the judges were Lieutenant Richards and Mr E. H. March, ,and the announcer was Mr F. W. Johnston. Ihe bouts were of threo rounds, two of two minutes and one of threo. The following were tho results, tho Renown men. being named first in each instance: — Turner 9st 31b was beater on points by Davison 9st. Ransom 10st 21b defeated Fabien 103 t on points. Chesa 9st 9lb defeated M’Farlano 9st 101 b on points. , ' Hawes 9st Blb def9atei Musson 9st 9lb on, points, Leo 9st 71b was beaten by M’Aire a 9st 9lb on points, after an extra round. Mann lOst Clb defeated Toms lOst 71b on points. Spenco list 6lb was knocked out in the first round by M’Clcary. Simmondj- 9st w? knocked out. in the second round by Chisnall Bst 9lb. Flowers Bst defeated Koith Bst 81b on points. Totals—Renown, 5 wins; Canterbury, 4.
