BUILDERS’ AWARD. [Per Press Association.l AUCKLAND, May 13.

The Arbitration Court award in connection with the Auckland Carpenters, Joiners, Brick Makers and Operative Stone Masons’ Union; which it is understood will operate as a Dominion award has been fixed The hours of work are forty-four, and the minimum wages of journeymen carpenters, joiners and joiners’ machinists are 2s per hour, for bricklayers and stonemasons 2s lid per hour. In addition a bonus on all outside jobs of 3d per hour is to be paid. The worker who is responsible for carrying out the work, and gives instructions to other workers, to receive not less'than Is per day extra. Overtime —time and a half for the first three hours; double time thereafter. Apprentices—first year los per week; 6econd year 22s 6d; third year 30s; fourth year 87s 6d; and fifth year 45s On passing a technical college examin{ition, apprentices are entitled to not ess than 5s per week extra during the fourth year. Stonemasons workhig pn granite to receive 2s 6d extra. Bricklayers to receive time and a quarter for all hot or dirty work, such as chimney stacks and towers over 40ft in height, and standing apart from any building, and steeples over 25ft above the building, and work done in two or .more inches of water, or where water is dripping on a worker—except where gumboots and oilskins are provided. All repairs to bakers’ ovens, retorts, furnaces and old work, and inside of the same if in constant uso and done during ordinary working hours, double time. If done on Sundays or holidays treble time. These provisions not to apply to permanent hands employed by city corporations, gas companies, bisfeuit or confectionery manufactories, or the Colonial Sugar Company.
