WHITCOMBE AND TOMBS. Messrs Whitcombe end Tombs’s (Ltd.) printing works’ employees held their annual picmo on Saturday at Ellesmere, under very favourable conditions. There was a good attendance and an enjoyable time was spent. Following are the results' of the events: — Apprentices’ Race. —G. Cousins. Three-legged Race.—F. Heslip and L. Pritchard. Girls’ Handicap.—Miss N. Barlass. Wheelbarrow Race. —Miss D. Legg. W. and T. Handicap.—W. Bowley. Married Women’s Race.—Mrs Nowbery. Sack Race.—R. Brightmore. Thread the Needle Race.—H. Thrower. Fifty Yards Boot Race—P. Truscott. Ladies’ Tug-bf-War.—Mesdames H’George, Norton, Dnvev and Knights. Egg and Spoon Race. —H. Thrower. Men’s Tug-of-War.—Newbery, Thrower, Hardman and Brightmore. The factory manager, Air H. Burgess, presented the prizes, and a vote of thanks was passed to the committee for their efforts towards making the day so successful. ' WEEKS, LTD. Tile employees of Weeks, Ltd., held their thirtieth annual picnic at Siewart’s Gully on Saturday. Tno party left Christchurch, at 9 a.m. A sports programme was carried out and games were indulged in, a very pleasant day resulting. The manager, Mr Soper, presented the prizes, after which a hearty vote of thanks'was passed to the directors of Weeks, Ltd., for their generous donation towards the prize and expenses funds. The party returned to town about 7 p.m. after a very enjoyable outing. Following are the results of the sport 3 events: — Boys’ and Apprentices.—Ernie Hughes 1, J. P. Stubberiield 2. CROWN CLOTHING COMPANY. , The Crown Clothing Company employees' annual picnic was held at Rangiora Domain on Saturday last, about 200 being present. A very enjoyable day was spent. - Mr W.
