A small safe was removed to a, vacant section adjacent and there blown up with gelignite- Tho noise made, was so loud that it was heard by constables on their beat in Karangahape Road. Tho door of tho safe was tom completely off and carried some distance. Apparently the noise frightened the. burglars, n.s they decamped without even abstracting tlie cash contents of the safe-—which only totalled 255.
