aERISTCHTTROH., Mr S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., presided at yesterday's Hitting 1 of the Christchurch Magistrate's Court. On charges of drunkenness two, first offenders were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. John Kelly, an elderly second offender, who had refused to remain in the Salvation Army Home, was fined £l, in default seven days' imprisonment. George William ®picer, another second offender, was fined 10s, in default fortyeight hours' imprisonment. Marv Herbert, alias Waugh, who pleaded guilty, was convicted and sentenced to three months' imprisonment on a charge of importuning in Madras Street, and convicted and discharged for a breach of a prohibition order. John Webster, who did not appear, but forwarded a letter to the clerk of the Court, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on a charge of breach of prohibition order. Edwin P. Vincent, who was sued by his. wife for maintenance, was ordered to pay £2 a week and costs of the action. Robert George Hoskings, charged with disobedience <*F a maintenance order, was convicted and sentenced to one month'3 imprisonment. Crawford Strang was convicted, sentenced to one month's imprisonment, and ordered to pay for arrears under a maintenance order. On similar charges, George Egan and Hiram Cox wero each sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Frederick Augustus Fitzgeorg© was ordered to pay lis 2d a week towards the support of his children. His wife was granted guardianship and separation orders. William Henry Wheeler, charged wi«h a breach of his prohibition order, was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment. A half-cast© Maori youth, Frederick Clarke, pleaded not guilty to a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond, having been found by night without lawful excuse on the enclosed garden of 295, Montreal Street. Clarke also denied that he had stolen a bicycle valued at £B, the property of Clifford Irving Ohidgey. After evidence had been heard accused was remanded for a week for sentence.
