A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held yesterday morning at the Police Station, Mr V. G. Day, S.M., presiding. Two first offenders were each fined ss, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment, for drunkenness. George Johnstone, charged with stealing on December 16 at Christchurch, a cash box valued at 10s Od and 4s 6d in money, belonging to Emily Lane, was remanded until December 22. Robert Arlow and Samuel Arlow, natives of Victoria, were charged with being rogues and vagabonds, because they were found by night in a railway carriage. They were remanded until December 10.
