/• Mr J. M. A. Hott, of arrived in Christchurch from the.norfiii on Saturday. i v Mr John Wood, of Christchurch, will judge harness horses at the Metropolitan Show. The Hon H. L. and Mrs Michel were passengers by the ferry' steamer from Wellington yesterday morning. Sir James Allen, Minister of- De- • fence, arrived from the south on Saturday and went on to Wellington in the evening. ■**?.!"- - yv Another Victoria Cross winner returned by the Remuera (states a Press Association message from Auckland, in the person of Lieutenant John.Gillroy Grant, of Hawera. Brigadier-General Young was entertained at a banquet at Martbn on Friday evening by representatives from all parts of Rangitikei prior to his departure to take charge of the Otago military district. BrigadierGeneral Meldrum was present. The proceedings were enthusiastic. Briga-dier-General Young was presented with a beautiful tea service, suitably inscribed.
