Mr R. H. Booth, who is making an extended trip to America and elsewhere. was tho guest at a “ surprise party ’ at the Carlyle ImplementWorks yesterday, when he was presented by tho formen and; others with a smoker’s outfit and pocketbook. both suitably inscribed. Mr G. Burn, foreman of the fitting shop, made the pdesentation. which ho accompanied with some well-okosen remark*, wishing Mr Booth success in his future career, and expressing tho hope that he would return rich in experience and with success •*.. crowning his enterprises. Mr Booth briefly, but fittingly responded, and was accorded three cheers.
