Blythj Wilson's Road, to Miss May Brody-Breeze, eldest daughter of Mr G. Brody-Breeze, a prominent Glasgow business man, and an ex-councillor of the Glasgow Municipality. Private Blyth served'with the N.Z.E.F. for three years, and Miss Brody-Breeze took a prominent part in war work at Home, holding an official position under the Government. N. Mackenzie, foungest son of Sir Thomas Mackenzie, ligh Commissioner for New Zealand in London, was married to Mi.su Doris sawyer,' youngest daughter of Mr Harconrt -Sawyer, of Springhill, Windsor Forest, London. The bride, v. ho arrived in New Zealand by tho Corinthic, was given away by Lord Jellitoe, and Lady Jollicoe was present at the ceremony. .On leaving the Town Hnll yesterday afternoon, at tho . conclusion of the lunch tendered to him by the Auckland .branch of the Navy League, Lord Jellicbe apologised lor having to cut short bis remarks, on account of the fact'that'ho was due to bo present at the wedding of Mr Clutha Mackenzie. Meyer, Moorhouse Avenue, was married to Gwladys Teresa,, youngest daughter of Mrs Sumner, GhristchUrch. Tho bride, Vho was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr E- Hall, looked charming in a smart costume of champagne gabardine, with hat, shoes and stockings en suite, and carried a handsome shower Ixmquct of spring flowers Jind maidenhair fern. She wore a gold necklet and pendant, and gold expanding wristlet watch, botli gifts of the bridegroom. She was attended by Miss Zita Meyer (sister of the bridegroom) as bridesmaid, who was prettily attired in white and carried a shower bouquet and wore a gold and amethyst brooch, tho bridegroom's £ift. Mr Roy Sumner capably carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony a- reception was held at the residence of the bride's sister, Mrs E. Hall, Fendalton, only the immediate relatives of the bride and bridegroom being present. Subsequently tho happy couple, who were the- recipients of many presents, left for Wellington, .en route to Wanganui, their future home.

BANKS AND STOCK AUCTIONEERS ANNUAL BALL. The ball held last evening in the Colosseum by the combined banks and stock auctioneers was a huge success in every way, and everybody present voted it quite one of the jolliest dances of the season. Tho effective decorations of rose-pink and white bunting garlanded with roses were tho same as were used for the citizens' ball. The floor has improved considerably, and the music last night, supplied by Miss M Donald s orchestra, left nothing to bo desired. There must have been nearly one thousand people present, but the floor was not unduly crowded, "he chaperones were Mrs A. Boylo Mrs C. J. Ronaldson. Mrs G. A. U Tapper and Mrs R' M. The monthly meeting of the Society for the Protection of \\ omen and Children was hefo yesterday in the society's rooms, No. 12, Victoria Chambers. Armagh Street. In the unavoidable absence of the president (the Rev A. C Lawry), Mrs Sandston occupied the chair. A brief renort of the conference recently held in Wellington by tho National Council of Women was given by Mrs Roberts. Tho following remits sent forward from the local society were passed at the conference;—(l) That, in the interests of women and children, women police should be appointed. (2) That a special officer should bo appointed in connection with the Magistrate's Court to collect dues in maintenance cases. (3) That statutory provision should be''made for the compulsory remunerative employment of men who neglect to support their wives and families, the money earned by the men to be.devoted to the maintenance of their families. .--Satisfaction was expressed at the appointment of the society's secretary, Sister Edith Walton, by the Court, to make reports on all applications for adoption. The secretary reported on thirty-two case 3 which -she had been called upon to investigate and help during tho month of September, all of which were considered by the committee. HANDKERCHIEF SHOWER. A very enjoyable " handkerchief shower" was given by Mrs C. E. Bell and Mrs T. Shankland, Rangiora, in honour of Miss Walker, who is to be married shortly. Progressive euchre, which was won by Mrs J. Benjea (Christchurch). and a competition, won by Mrs A. Hughes, occupied the afternoon. A dainty afternoon tea was served, the tables being beautifully decorated with pink hyacinths and pink and white stocks. The guest of the afternoon received over sixty handkerchiefs.
