HONOUR ROLL.

UNVEILED AT DURHAM STREET

CHURCH.

Special servicos for the unveiling of tho permanent honour roll of tho Durham Street Methodist Church were held in the church yesterday. Tho Rev r. Knight preached in the morning, ms subject being "Tho Soul of a Hero The evening service was attended oy a congregation which filled the large building, and was a beautiful and impressive one. The pulpit was decorated with white flowers, and, together with its background was draped mth flags. In front of the pulpit tho honour roll was hung, veiled With a Union Jack. The Rev 0. Abernoth , father of three sons whose names headed both lists on the board, sat by the pulpit with tho Rev P. Knight. The choir sang the anthem ''Tho Lord is Loving" faarrett), and Mr Ilex Hamson sang Haydn's f Spirit Song, and after the unveiling of the roll. Thou Art Passing Hence, My Brother (Sullivan). Special hymns were heartily sung by tho largo congregation. Before Mr £. M. Isitt, unveiled tho roll, the Rev P. Knight said that the permanent place of the honour roll would be in tho church porch, where it could be seen by all who entered. A retiring collection would be takon up tor the cost of erecting the memorial. 1 lie trustees of tho church, ho said, had asked Mr L. M. Isitt, the member for the district, and a comrado, to unvcu the honour roll. In performing the unveiling ceremony Mr Isitt said:—"With a deep sense of our indebtedness to the bravo men whose name* are chronicled here, and their comrades, who faced death that our lives and liberties might be paved, I now unveil this roll of honour, in the hope that it will not only keep them ever in our remembranco, but, as again and again wo read this record and remember their example, it will inspiro in us a desire to more fully dovote our lives so the service of our fellow men.
