VISIT TO LYTTELTON. ' A brief discussion on the coming visit of H.M.S. ,New Zealand to Lyttelton took place at the Harbour Board s meeting yesterday. Tho matter was mentioned by the chairman, Mr H, B. Sorensen, in tho course of his monthly report to the board. Mr Sorenson said that no information was available as to tho ante of the vessel’s arrival in Lyttelton. It had been stated by the newspapers that the vessel would arrive about June 14. but there was nothing to-corroborate this statement. He did not know whether it was proposed to tie ~tie vessel up at the wharf. Mr Cyrus Williams, the' board’s engineer, said there would be no physical difficulty in tying her up, but if it was proposed to tie her up at No. 3 wharf, where she berthed on the occasion ot her previous, visit, there would be serious difficulties. Rho could, however, be, , berthed at one of the other wharves. Mr S. K. Sleigh said it would be a serious .matter at the present time the vessel i\’ere to be brought alongside any of the wharves, owing to the shortage of accommodation, due to certain wharves being under repair. Personally he did not think that l thev l encourage the idea of her coming alongside. Dr Thacker suggested that a moss- ■ age should bo sent to the captain os\- • ing the probable date' of the vessel s arrival.
