THE LATE CAPTAIN SEDDON.
MEMORIAL DEDICATION.
At St Albans Church, Eastbourne, on Sunday afternoon, a memorial bell, donated by Captain and Mrs Knox Gilmer, was dedicated by his Lordship Bishop Sprotfc to the memory of the late Captain R. J. S. Seddon. Hie church was crowded, and the service wnt- a most impressive one, many of the late captain's friends having come some distance to take part in the ceremony. Among those present were Mrs Seddon and all tho members of her family in Zealand, Sir William HallJones, the Hon G. W. and Mrs Russell, Sir J. Findlay, the Hon J- A. Hanan, Surgeon Major-General Henderson. Captain Rockstrow, Mr and Vb* Macdonald, Br Hay, Hon B. Buddo, Major Corrigan, and many others. The service w;is fully choral, and included some of the Into captain's favourite hymns. Upon _ tho Bishop, clergy and choir proceeding to the west end of the church, Mr Thomas W. PiVdier, parishioner's churchwarden, read the petition to the Bishop, to dedicate the bell on behalf of the members of the congregation and the donors, in memory of the deceased Boldier, and the special dedication prayers were then taken.
At the conclusion of tho dedication Captain Knox Gilmer gave thirty-seven tolls of the, bell, indicating the years of the late Captain Seddon's life.
