The Government Bacteriologist state*; that the epidemic is due to true influenza bacillus, ns known to but in one type of the disease pneumonia organisms usually predominate.: Dr A. B. Pearson, pathologist at tha Christchurch Hospital, has not ' conducted actual experiments as 'to the present epidemic, as he has not had ■time to do so, but he stated last night; that he had no doubt whatever that it was some form of influenza.
