DUAL FUNERAL.
THE LATE J. J. AND JVC DWYER The funerals of John Joseph a no' James Cecil Dwyer, sons of Superit; tendent Dwyer, of the local, poll:'. force, took place at the Linwood ceme terv yesterday morning. The cortege., which was a very long one, left Superintendent Dwyer's residence, H'erefon; Street, at 10.30. There was a_ vers large attendance, of relatives, friends. members of the local police force ant. 1 members of the legal profession. ; The chief mourners were Superintendent Dwyer and his son Philip. Amongst those present were Mr S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., Messrs S. G. Raymond, K.C., J. A- Cassidy, W. Hoban, A. J. Malley, F. W. Johnston and, J. S. Barrett, representing the legal profession, Messrs T. D. Kendall (Public Trustee), Sub-luspoctor Mullany, Senior-Ser-geant Cummings and Sergeant Bird, representing the police force, and Mr Leo Madden. The pall-bearers, who were all members of the police force, were:—Senior-Sergeant Jackson, Sergeants Stewart, O'Grady, King, Hodgson and Hyland, Chief-Detective M'llveney and Detective-Sergeant Connolly. The Rev Dr Kennedy, assisted by tho Rev Fathers Long and Fogarty. officiated at the graveside. ■ and there were also a number of Murist Brothers present. Tho service was a most impressive one, the brothers being buried side by side. At the conclusion of the service a salute of three volleys was fired over the graves in honour of James Cecil Dwyer, who was a gunner attached to the Forty-eighth Reinforcements. A very large number -of beautiful wreaths were -sent. , including wreaths from tho local police force, Mesdnmes Edgar Stead, R, J. Gillies, M'Leod Smith, R. Neil and Norman Duncan, and Messrs F. J. Murray, Townsend, Erasmussen, Brinkman, Rose, Close, Thorndon, Mr and Mrs Tansey, ami Mr and Mrs Barnes.
