THE LATE MR A. W. RUTHERFORD.

THE FUNERAL. The funeral of tho late Mr 'A. W. Rutherford took place at Waiau yesterday afternoon, and was very largely attended, the deceased gentleman being widely known and respected throughout the county and province. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev Dr Erwin (Christchurch)., assisted by the Rev J. H. Thomson (Amuri). Dr Erwin gave a brief and inspiring address, enumerating the many acts of kindness and charity of the deceased, who, he said, had never let his left hand know what his right did, in this respect. Mr Rutherford had been a staunch supporter of the Presbyterian Church in Arauri, and had taken .an active part in everything that helped to' make for the welfare of the community. The bearers were:—Messrs T. 0. Robinson (son-in-law), and Alister Rutherford, G. L. Rutherford, G. Ruherford, P. L. Rutherford and S. E. Rutherford (nephews). The chief mourners were Messrs George Rutherford and Norman Rutherford (sons), and G. Rutherford and 3S. B: Rutherford (brothers).. Amongst those present were:—Messrs L. A. Rutherford, C. O. T.
