ORDER REQUIRING THE CLOSING OF BUILDINGS FOR THE PREVENTION OF SPREAD OF A DANGEROUS INFECTIOUS DISEASE—to wit INFLUENZA. JDUKSUANT to powers conferred upon A mo under Section 18 of the Public Health Act, 1908, and by authority from his Excellency the Governor-General, I, HERBERT CHESSON, District Health Officer, hereby require all places and buildings within the Cantorbury-Westland Health District enumerated in. the schedule below, to bo isolated by being closed forthwith, and to remain closed for one week from the dato of this notice. During the period of such isolation no person shall enter any such building Gave for the purpose of cleansing or disinfecting the same, or for some other purpose directed by me:— THEATRES. PICTURE THEATRES. DANCING HALLS. BILLIARD SALOONS. SHOOTING GALLERIES. CONCERT ROOMS. PUBLIC HALLS. LIBRARIES. AND OTHER PLACES OF ENTERTAIN- * MENT. ALSO, ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS, COLLEGES OR OTHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS ALL PLACES USED FOR RACE MEETINGS, SHOWS, OR EXHIBITIONS OF ANY KIND. ALSO, ALL CHURCHES AND CHAPELS IN SO FAR AS WEEK DAY AND EVENING SERVICES ARE CONCERNED. Dated at Christchurch this 11th day of November, 1918. IN View of tho Serious Epidemic now prevalent in the Dominion every local authority is required to take urgent and immediate steps to secure tho safest possiblo sanitary conditions in its district, and as a part thereof to maintain at some central place supplies- of disinfectants for speedy issue to public. Also to make it widely known that the: public should not at present travel beyond their own locality. Every local aulhbrity is advised to have standard influenza romody available for speedy issue to public on demand. Public are requested to carefully read any advice regarding influenza as from time to time may be published by improving the sanitary conditions of his own house, and by taking all precautions necessary to combat the outbreak.
