TECHNICAL COLLEGE.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS. - The Christchurch Technical College Board of Governors met last night; present-Mr G. Scott (chairman Ida Wells, and iMessrs J. W. BeanLd, J. A Black, T. D. Boag W H. (Toper, W. R. Gahagan, J- R. Hayward W. Hayward, A. Jeans, W. Jo'nes, H J. M'Cullough H J. Marriner, C> H, Opie, S.J C. Owen, H. R. Rusbridge, B. Seth-Smith, A. Williams, W. J. Wills, H. Worrall and J. A. Uren. Apologies were received from the Hon J. Barr Mr M'Gregor Wright and Mr C. J. Madclren. Tho treasurer's financial statement showed a balance at bank of £Bl7 Ids lid. Accounts amounting to £iy» l/s 4d were passed for payment. The Appointments Committee reported that it had approved the formation of an evening class in patternmaking next year. The committeo recommended the. appointment of Mr Arnott. 8.A., tutor in Economics to the W.E.A., as instructor to the evening class in civics and economics. The Building Committee, in its report, stated that in view of the development of tho wool department and the urgent need for increased accommodation, it recommended the JH9 cur : ing of a room approximately 2500 ft of continuous floor space, for carrying on tho work during next year. . • Mr B. Seth-Smith moved:—"That a special committee be set up to interview tho Minister of Agriculture with a view to finding out if any Government support can be obtained towards the establishment of an elementary agricultural high school in connection with this collego, and that the committee obtain, if possible, the services of a member of the Board of Agriculture—the board having already aexpressed its cntiro sympathy with the movement—to assist in pressing our claim." Mr Seth-Smith gave reasons in support of the proposal, which was seconded by Mr T. D. Boag and carried. The following committee was set "jp: —Messro Boag, Gahagan, W. Hayward, W. Jones, C. H. Opie, H. R. Rusbridge and B. Seth-Smith. The question of half-holidays in connection with war successes was discussed, and the chairman was empowered to deal with these as occasion arose.
