DOMAINS BOARD.

-■ MONTHLY MEETING. The Christchuroh Domains Board met yesarday, Mr H. J. Beswick presiding. The curator (Mr J. Young) reported that ihe work of cultivating the land in Korth Par would b* finished next week, and a start ■would be made on sowing the potatoes... The work in ho gardens was also well in hand. The report was adopted. The chairman stated that owing to the shortage of labour it had been found impossible to make a start on the sinking oi the deep well on the new cricket ground at Hospital Corner. Hallenstein wrote asking if the board could eee its way clear to alter its by-law regarding the admittance- of dogs ro the Publio Gardens, so that dogs could fie taken in, provided they were on leads. The chairman stated that dogs on leads wore allowed to the park, and apparently Mr Hallenstein wished this permission to be extended to the gardens The secretary (Mr "W P. Hilson) stated that the curator was strongly opposed to dogs being taken in'o the gardens .under any conditions. Alter further discussion it was decided to refer the matter teethe curator for a report. •Mr H. Holland (Mayor of Christchurch) said that a prominent citizen had suggested to him the advisability of making a road across Hagley Park from the Armagh Street bridge to the Riccarton Hotel corner, and had pointed out thta the road would Jmske an ideal drive and, might be made "cry attr-acUve if electrically lit at night.
