IN MESOPOTAMIA. THE TURKS DEFEATED. A. and N.Z. Cable Association and Reutet. LONDON, October- 31. A Mesopotamia official message states:—Our cavalry eastward of the Tigris forded the river northward of Kalatshergha, and joined the armoured cars. The enemy heavily attacked on October 28, and forced back our right flank, but failed to drivo us off the Mosul road. Reinforcements arrived and restored the situation. Meanwhile our forces advancing up the west bank, attacked and drove the Turks from their positions and captured Kalatshergha. The pursuit was continued on October 29, and we penetrated deeply the enemy's position five miles northward of Kalatshergha, Rapturing 1000 prisoners and much material. A. and N.Z. A Mesopotamian official message reports:—Hard fighting on the Tigris began on October 24 with .the entire Turkish force there. Tho prisoners are estimated at about 7000, and a large quantity of war material has been taken.
