SUMMIT ROAD.

NEW ORGANISATION FORMED. A meeting of members of the Summit Road Association, and 01 persons interested in the ess6c.ai.i6n s work, was bold in the Ohambar of Hall last night to consider the position ol ihe association ana extend ns operations. Mr G. ilarper, president, presided, and about twonty-nve members attended. Mr Jd. U. Ell, M.P., said that his wish was to change the oid association in,.o another body, to be called the bumnut Road and Reserves Association. It was decided, on the motion of Mr G. T. Booth, seconded by Mr S. G. Raymond, K.C., to take the s.ep Mr Ell sugges.td. On the motion of Mr Eil, the toilowing were appointed a coinmutee, in addition U> members of the committee of the old association:—Dr G. Chilton, Ur C. C. Farr, Captain and Messrs R. M. Lamg, (J, I', Boo.h, W. Reeoe, K. Malcolm, R. W. Arnold, K. Speight, F. M. Warren, F, F. Williams, G. Bowron, G. Gou:d, J.S. Barrett, S. G. Raymond, W. F. Parkinson, A. W. Jamiesen. P. Graham, A. F. Wright, S. Hursi-beagcr, W. O. Campbell, A. W. ±i;aven, O. W. Reid, A. W. Davidson, St J. Dougall, A. M'Kellar, C. R. Clark, A. Boyle, W. G. Jamieson, H. Cot.orill, B. L. Laue, B. E. M'Dougall and G. Harper. Mr iiarpei was elected chairman of the committee.

The following sub-committee was appointed to devise soms mo.hod of meeting the liquid liabilities:—Messrs W. G. Jamieson, Booth,. Gould, Warren, Harper and Ell. Messrs Gould, Beaumont and Co. were appointed honorary treasurers; and Messrs Harper, Ell, Barrett and Wright wore appointed a sub-committee to draw up rules ior the new association.

Mr W. H. Skinner, Commissioner of Crown Lands, and chairman of the Scenio Reserves Board, said that the Government wouid help to meet certain liabilities on the roserves. On tbo motion of Mr Barrett, seconded by Dr Farr, it was decided to place on record appreciation of Mr Ell's services, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Skinner for his help. '■■
