ENEMY GIVES GROUND.
GERMANS FALL BA'CK IN BOTH ANCBE AND AVRE SECTORS.
FIGHTING ON THE VESLE. WESTERN FRONT. The Allies readied the river Vesle, east of Fismes, and light elements gained a footing on the nortli bank. The Americans stormed Fismes. In the vicinity of Rheims the Allies reached la Neuvillette. On a ten-mile front, between Castel and Montdidier, the Germans withdrew behind the Avre River. North of Albert the enemy fell back behind the Ancre.
