Ihiring the past week 140 seamen made use of the Seamen's Institute, Lyttelton, twenty visits were paid by the missioner to vessels in port, three Gospel services were held afloat, and four in the Institute. Four sick seamen in the hospital and three on ships were visited, and a large number of magazines and other literature were distributed.

A smoke concert was held in the Druids' Hall, Lyttelton, on Saturday evening to bid farewell to Mr Gk ivi. Ryan, late licensee of the Lyttelton Hotel, and to Mr H. Anthony, warder at the Lyttelton Prison, on the occasion of their departure from the port. Mr S. Brooking presided. A number of toasts were honoured, and musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Messrs Woodhani, Cooper, Glubb, Priddy, Holder, G. Hall and J. Childs. During the evening speeches eulogistio of the guests were delivered.
