SUNDAY CONCERT.

The sixth Sunday concert organised by Mrs Jimnes-Loughnan on bemui of tne Lady Liverpool iuind, for Christmas parcels tor the troops, was given at the Theatre Royal last night before a crowded attendance. An excellent and wellvaried programme was presented, consisting of lull band, and vocal and instrumental solos. The band portion of the programme- was by Berry s Military Band, under Mr E- C. Berry. The principal numbers all pleasingly performed and eliciting warm approbation, were the overtures " William Tell" (Rossini) and "Morning, Noon and IS'ight (Suppe): potpourri, " Melodious Melodies ' (Finch), and a march, "The Entry into Jerusalem ,: (Julius). The instrumental contributions included a piccolo solo, "Through the Air" (Thomas) by Mr A. Hutlon, and "a glockenspiel solo, "The Butterfly" (Benedix) by Mr E. Sheldon, both items beinn; very popularly received- Vocal numbers wore suns: by Mrs F, C. Cother and Mr Frank Charles. The former's well-toned and expressive soprano voice was excellently suited in Mascheroni's "Ave Maria" (with effective violin obbligato by Mr R. L. Clarke), and in Warre's charming song, " Jpy of the Morning." Mr Charles's temperamental bass voice was very effective in his excellent interpretations of ''A Song of Thanksgiving" (" Allitsen) and in "Jerusalem" (Parker). Mrs Burnes-Loughnan played the accompaniments in sympathetic and artistic manner. The Mayor, in moving a vote of thanks to all who had assisted to make the concert a success, stnted that the takings amounted to £27 14s 4d.
