" TATTERSALL’S ” HORSE SALE: Thole was an entry of thirty-five horses at TattersalPs on Saturday. Buyers were present for good, useful draughts at medium prices, and a very satisfactory sale resulted. The horse market generally has an improved tono, and sale 3 are much easier to make. This has been tho case for some time'past. Among the transactions were:—Account client, four-year-old gelding £23, tlirce-ycar-old gelding £lO, five-year-old maro £lO IDs, seven-year-old gelding £2O; W. Ashton (Little Akaloa), aged maro £l2 10s; J. Ward (Okoka), five-ycar-old pony £9; H. J. Wntson (Papa■nui), aged gelding £l3; R. Kemp (Ricoarton), six-year-old mare £8; H. Shaw (Sproydon), eight-year-old gelding £25; C. MacAlo (Spreyclon), five-year-old gelding £1(1; client, aged maro £7 10s. Aged hackstand harness horses sold ,at late rales. • LEESTON. The stock salo_ at Lceston was well attended and entries of stock comprised 75 cattle, 106 fat pigs, 113 store pigs and a large number of sheep. Fat slook values wero very firm and there was a keen demand for good dairy cattle, resulting in very satisfactory prices. Bacon pigs brought 74s Gd to £5 19s 6d porkers from 50s, largo stores from 31s, small from 103. Forward cows made £7, eighteen-months hoifors £7 12s 6d, springers up to £l6 10s.

ASHBURTON. - Wheat.— The quantity offering, is gradually diminishing, 'and it soems evident that tho bulk of the crop is nov/ dealt with. Reports indicate that thrashing will be about finished in the next two or three weeks. A proportion of tho wheat coming on the market is of poor quality, being thin and weathered, and this is readily taken as vfhblo fowhvhoat at tho under grado price. Although sorno millers have nearly filled their warrants, there is sufficient demand for all milling wheat on offer. Oats.—The market is quiot, and little business is passing as between grower and merchant. Although values are nominally unchanged, buyers aro only prepared to operate at a reduction of several pence per bushel on rates that ruled a few weeks ago. Chaff.—Tho markot is quiet, and the demand much easier. Prime quality may be quoted at £5 5s on trucks; second class eumplos 90s. Low grade chaff is not wanted. NORTH OTAGO. [FHO.U Our. CORRESPONDENT. ] OAMARU, May 11. Wheat has continued to como _ forward fairly freely, though individual offerings nave, generally been small in bulk. A ‘few, however, ranged from 6CO up to 600 sacks each. Oats, both Gartons and Algerians, have boon offering from tbo country, but, though growers have been disposed to accept reduced prices, very littlo business has been dono. Sales have been confined to a few small linos of Algerians at 4s net, country stations. Merchants «ro restrained from doing business because of lack of storage space and shipping facilities, largo accumulations of oats sold many weeks ago being still in store awaiting opportunities for shipment. LAND SALES. In the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association’s land sale room at noon on Saturday, tho ‘estate ktiovfti as the Willesden Farm was put up for public auction. This farm, which has boon occupied by the Willis family for upwards of forty years, is in, tho Southbridge’district. The farm was divided into three lots. Lot 1, comprising 220 acres 1 rood 20 porches, together with tho homestoad. outbuildings, garden and orchard, was bought by Mr R. Gemmoll for £l3 per acre. Lot 2. ccmprising 211 acres 3 loads, wont at £3l. per acre, to Mr G. Hubbard. Lot 3, comprising 13.1 acres 1 rood 20 perches, went at £32 15a an acre, to Mr Moorhead. Jones, M’Crostio Company, Limited sold on Saturday, on behalf of a mortgagee, through tho Registrar of the Supremo Court, a property comprising 11 aoro, together with a. stone house of six rooms erected thereon, and situated in Monoids Bay, Redeliffs, to Mr J. F. Simpson, for £6OO. Messrs Pyno and Co., on behalf of the trustees of tho estate of the late Mr Philip'Martin, sold on Saturday a farm of 23 acres situated at Lincoln, and at present occupied by Mr J.
