GREY ELECTION.

WR.IT issued. [Per Pnsss Association.] WELLINGTON, May 11. The writ for the Grey seat was issued yesterday. The election will be held on May 29. LOCAL DISAPPOINTMENT. UNEXPECTED CLOSING OF ROLL. [Per Press Association.] GREYMOUTTT, May 11. There was disappointment to-day in both election camps. The Registrar ot Electors did not reccivo the official telegram, notifying that tho writ for the Grey seat had been issued yesterday until after six o’clock last night. A number of claims for enrolment were thus shut out, as the organisers relied on the custom of notification being received early in the day, and having notice of the final hour of closing the roll. Tho official telegram, put in at Wellington at two o clock yesterday afternoon, did not reach Greymouth till after six o’clock, and it was near seven o’clock before it was in the hands of tho registrar.
