WOMEN'S NATIONAL RESERVE.

At a special meeting of the Women s National Reserve held at 257, Manchcstci Street Mrs Wood presided over a laru;e attendance'of members. Mrs Wood explained that the meeting was called for the purpose of receiving'reports from tho various stallholders of the recent Domain fete. The post office stall (Lyttelton) reported taking m not; Mrs Secretan (variety stall), £45 net; Mrs Hastie (soit drmks and counter lunch\ £32 8s sd; Mrs Wain (Sumner-Red-ciffs branch), sweets, £49 10s; Mrs Lane (Fendalton), produce stall, £39; Mrs Berry Burwood-Shirley and Avonside), tea ten., £-13 10s; Mrs Raymond (Papaiuy). tea tent, £52; Cashmero-Opawa-New Brighton branch reported tea tent, £55 7s; eity branch .(ice cream-strawberries and cream-fruit salad), stall, £72 12s «d ;| Mesdames Lavio and Bruges (" Grandma."), £27. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to all members of the reserve for the assistance thtfy had given in aid of the Domain fy*, and to Mrs Speight for the assistance Vdie had given with the surprise packet enLavio reported that her visits to tike Hospital had so far been most successful, especially among the wives of the soldiers, and she had received many letters, of appreciation from them. She would llkej to receive magazines, books noid puzzles for distribution amongst the various hospuals where returned soldiers were ill. Mrs Harris had promised to assist with the visiting at the Rhodes Convalescent Home, where there were several wives of soldiers. After some discussion, it was decided to discontinue the Sunday afternoon teas at the Returned Soldiers' Club from December 24 Ho tho beginning' of April, 1918, also to discontinue tho week-day afternoon teas from December 24 to January 11, 1918. Miss Booth tendered her resignation as convener of the ' Cashmere branch of the reserve, as she was moving to tho Papanui district, but sho would still remain a member of 'the association. On the motion of Mrs Lavie, a. hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs Wood as president of the reserve, and also for the use of office and rooms upstairs which belong to Mr W. Wood. Tho rooms had proved invaluable to members for all the work carried on by members. Mrs Wood thanked members for the support she had received in carrying out her duties. Totes of thanks were accorded Mrs Evans (honorary secretary) and Miss Cocks (honorary treasurer). Mrs "Wood announced that the rooms of the reserve would be closed fiom December 14 to January 15, 191 S.
