FORFEITS. November 30—Auckland Racing Club. November 30y-Man»watu Racing Club,

NEWS AND NOTES. The inside of the trial grass track was open at Ricearton on Saturday. It was a trifle hard, bat provided good going, being very favourable for fast times.

Adjutant and Gamecock were worked the reverse way on Saturday, striding out over a mile and a furlong. They were not out on a time making mission, but they both moved freely. Long Range and Sir Fanciful were companions over five furlongs, also going the reverse way. It is probable that three, if not all four, will make tho trip to Auckland next month. R. J. Mason worked Thames, Lovesick, Missouri and Eleus the reverse way on Saturday, giving them useful tasks. Some of them may be nominated for the Auckland meeting, but it is bv no means certain that Mason's stable will be represented at iuat fixture.

Biplane was on the track on Saturday, ■ being' sent on the lead over a cc'aplo of steady circuits of the tan There is no intention of sending him to Auckland for the Great Northern Derby, and it is unlikely that he will race again for some time- Ho looks well, and appears to be quite sound, but his trainer is probably of opinion that he has done enough for the present; ;.'.'.

Fiery Cross was responsible for a fine gallop over a mile and a quarter ou Saturday, being accompanied over the last part by Glendower, who will be his mate on the trip to Auckland. Fiery Cross has done a lot of galloping on the tracks and in public, and lie has thriven on it, as he seems to be a better horse now than at any previous stage of his career.

Good Hope and Christopher Sly did a useful snrint over half a mile on Saturday, and Brambletyo was given steady work, while later on Sisyphus and Claverhouse were sent together over 6ix furlongs, finishing up well. "Winter Cherry moved in good style in a sprinting task on Saturday, being much too good for Thestius. Battle Eve boars an improved appearance as a result of his racing this month. He was sent over seven furlongs on Saturday, and moved in' his .beet style.

Marc Anthonv was on the track on Saturday, getting through his usual task, a couple of steady rounds on the plough. He looks big and fresh, but shows slight signs of soreness.

Bomb and Comely rattled over half a mile in good style on Saturday, finishing strongly. Harlequin was staying on well at the end of a smart mile on Saturday, and he may pick up a race during the holidays. He was accompanied over the last six furlongs by Eunpos, who has been a bit of a disappointment since his auspicious start at the Grand National meeting. . when he won a double in good style. The Menschikoff and Vasco three-year-olds in F. Holmes's stable were .sprinted on Saturday and then had a turn in the jumping ring. They show some aptitude for jumping and should develop into useful hurdlers. Kilrea was given a half-mile sprint on Saturday. She registered fair time but did not appeal- to move with much determination.

Achilleus and Gallupin were com. panions in a useful gallop on Saturday and they should pay their way dining the holidays.

Majestikoff moved in her style over six furlongs on Saturday, Kilalla going with her tho 'last part. Majosbikoff has built up a lot lately, while Kilalla appears to have benefited by fter recent rest.

Partisan rattled over five furlongs in brilliant stylo on Saturday. The Glenapp mare is a great galloper on the traces and if she would ran as well in. public sho would win lots of races.'

King Star, who looks well, got through a useful mile gallop in Saturday. He will probably do the southern meetings during the holidays and he should pay his way on the trip.

F. D. Jones had boxes engaged at Ellerslie for five of his team but they will not make the trip north. Instead,. Jones will take about half a dozen horses south for the Dunedin and North Otago meetings, after doing the South Canterbury fixture with a slightly smaller contingent.

Wrestler pulled up showing slight signs of lameness after a gallop last Tuesday, and he has been on the easy list since then. He appears to be nearly, right again, and he will probably resume work this week. If there is no recurrence of the trouble he may be included in the team to represent Sir

George Clifford at the Auckland Racing Club's summer meeting.

Masterstroke and a three-year-old by Antagonist—Bountiful are expected to join F., I>- Jones's team shortly, and will be got ready to carry Mr H. A. Knight's colours later in the season.

The two-year-old filly Afterglow (Demosthenes —Sunglow) and the colts Molyneux (Danube —Perle d'Or) and Wharfee (Danube—Miss Mischief) are among tho toa.ni which R. J. Mason has out each morning. The two Danube colts have only recently .been broken in. Mr H. A. Knight has a couple of promising colt foals, both by Boniform at his stud at Racecourse Hill. One of them is from Madrid, by Vasco— Flame, and the other from Big Blast, by Quarryman—Brave Heart.

Ldskeard, for whom Mr A- Boyle paid 40 guineas at the sale of the late Hon J. ,D. Ormond's horses last week, is a slx-vear-old golding by Birkenhead— Enna, by The Officer—Enid. _ He has done no racing, but he is a big fellow, who may t*urn out useful over obstacles provided he stands training. -Belair attracted considerable attention at' the sale of the late Hon J. D. Ormond's horses last week, and it was only after some keen competition that she was knocked down to the Riccarton trainer. J. M'Combe, for 520 guineas. She is a shapely three-year-old fillv by Hymettus—Enyo, by Birkenhead—Eon, by Medallion—Enid, by Apremont—ldalia, and in addition to good looks and a winning pedigree, she has the reputation of being a speedy galloper, though she has not been seriously tried in public, as she started only once last season.
