TJie shortage of beef was .acute in 'tbo early stiiKes of the market, and prices rose. Fat sheep sold well from' the outset, and an advance in prices was recorded. The sale of fat pig-s was said to'be a, record ono. Store cattle also fit'ld well, particularly in the case of grown cattle in forward condition. The yarding included sheep from Southland, but they were hardly equVl to the previous week's consignment.
