Majestikofi beat Bomb over five furlongs, but the time was only moderate. Subterfuge had a slight advantage over Minuet at the end of a fair halfmile sprint.

Kilkee shaped well over six furlongs, Donnata accompanying him over the last half-mile.

Teviotdale ran half a mile up the back, but did not accomplish much from a time point of view. Achifledes was schooled over a round of the hurdles, but his display of jumping was indifferent. A little later Paremata was given a similar task and jumped well, though only at a slow pace

The three-year-old gelding Black Mark, by All Black—Culprit, was lame on Saturday and was not worked. He was not seriously tried last season. Starting only once, but he had lately been showing promising form on the Riccarton tracks.

The cross-country rider, Stanley Reid, who was called up in the .last ballot, was examined last week and relegated to the C2 division.

Adjutant did well while enjoying a spell at the conclusion of his autumn 1 engagements, and he has come on nicely since he resumed work. He has done a lot of useful galloping durinjr the last few. weeks, and has got through hi 3 tasks very attractively, while he looks a better horse than at any previous stage of his career. He is regarded as more than a possibility for the New Zealand Cup, but his owner has never shown a special liking for that event, so" that it may be unwise to accept the son of Martian—Discipline as a certain starter for the two-mile journey. The win scored bv Biplane in the Rosehill Guineas on Saturdav makes lit evident that he did not show his true form when beaten out of a place, a week earlier, in the Chelmsford Stakes, as the winner of that event, Prince Viridis had to be content with finishing a moderate second in the Guineas. For some time past Biplane has been galloping well at Randwick, and but for his failure in the Chelmsford Stakes he would have had a big public following on Saturday. As a result of his win, Biplane "will again be rin favour for the Australian Jockey Club's Derby, and if he can stay he may be equal to defeating the best of the Australian throe-year-olds»in that event. Saturday's race marked the first win scored by Mr G. D. Greenwood in an important event in the Commonwealth.

The news to hand from Sydney that Kilboy has been withdrawn from the Metropolitan Handicap, on account of lameness, will cause general regret throughout the Dominion. Quite apart from his absence from this important race, it probably means that the Kilbroney horse will be unable to take part in the rich weight-for-ago events! at Randwick, in which he looked lik« playing a very prominent part. Kilbov has more than once .given his trainer trouble, so that the present attack may not be of a serious character, but it looks as if he could be written out, so far as immediate engagements are concerned.
