METHODIST CIRCUITS.

LYTTELTON. The quarterly meeting of the Lyttelton Methodist Church was held on Tuesday. The Rev J. L. Parsons presided, and tliero was a good attendance of officers. Reports ou the quarter’s work were considered very' satisfactory. The bal-ance-slieet showed that income balanced expenditure. The work among the young people had been a markedly successful feature of the work done. As the outcome of young people’s, day, two new week evening classes had been formed, while the Sunday school and “ Morning Star ” Brigade had been considerably strengthened. The Sunday school anniversary had been successful also. Foreign mission services had realised £5 14s, and personal subscriptions were also being received. The trust fund had benefited bv the sum of over £101) as a- result of tl& annual chrysanthemum show —an unprecedented amount. The conference '•'spiritual advance'’ resolutions were considered at length, and the minister was assured of the readiness of the members to assist him in any forward movement. The resolutions of the Temperance and Public Morals Committee were discussed. Tile suggestion that a resold tiou urging the Government to pass tin proposed six o’clock closing measure be submitted to the. congregation at ar early date was approved. Mr Parsons was asked to deal with the matter or. Sunday, Julv 15. It was stated that this line had been followed in one of the principal Wellington churches, at which the leading business men of that city had attended. The resolution affirming the proposed legislation had been unanimously approved.
