On reading in the Rotorua '‘Chronicle” that it was intended to apply tho provisions of the Military Service Act to all Maoris, Amohau, a leading chief of the Arawas, sent the following telegram to the Hon Sir James Allen, Minister of Defence:—“ Congratulations, Arawas believe in one law for Pakehas and Maoris in the defence of the Empire.” ,r When 1 started to shave my face broke out in one mass of festered pimpies. Eachpimplewasmatflfiu'k'Sih. tered and had a red ring the J H size of a sixpence round it and at nights the pimples 'became so irritating and sore that I got little sleep.
