ST JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The General Committee of the St Jolin' Association met last evening, Mr A. -E. G. Rhodes presiding. In moving a hearty vote of thanks to all thoso who assisted on Ambulancf Day,, the chairman stated that tho collection constituted a record, and said a great deal for tho work of -the helpers. He thought it would strengthen the hands oi all connected with the association to* feel that the public supported’ tho ' body so>-well. Tho motion wasi carried unanimously, and it- was further decided to forward n letter of thanks to each of the nursing division. The secretary reported that a meeting of the Motor Ambulance Sub-committee had been held that afternoon. Tho donations to date were £4OO. - * f *.

Tho chairman said that Mrs A. E. G. Rhodes wished to contribute £SO towards tho purchase price of the ambulance. There was a credit at tho bank amounting to £540 4s 2d, a credit to general funds of £ll4 Is lid, and a credit to the* Motor Ambulance Funds of £l6O.

The secretary <said tba.t complaints hnd been received as to -patients being delayed in transit from their homes to- the public hospital.

It was pointed.- out' that the'delay sometimes occurred* on arrival at the hospital, as a patient had to be kept on the stretcher until the formalities regarding admission were gone through. It was resolved to communicate with fho hospital authorities regarding £he matter. The official organiser of the association presented an extensive report on his visit -to the West Coast, and ho was accorded a vote of thanks.

Mr A. E. G. Rhodes was appointed! to represent the council on the New Zealand. Red Cross Society and the Order of St John. It was to recommend for recognisance by tho Grand Priory of the Order of St John of Jonisalem in England tho services rendered to the association by Frances W. Thompson, John Mhunder, Frank Grousky, Edward G. Bennett, Major Teichelmanu, Mabel E. Wood, Florence A. Thompson, Kate E. O’Sullivan, Kate Carffiy, Margary Freitas Hcenan, Eileen Fergusson and James Fitzsimmons.
