PERSONAL NOTES. • Lance-Corporal Leslie Hayman, reported last mouth as wounded, now reported believed' to be killed in action, was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs H. Hayman, Cam Road, Kaiapoi. He was educated at the Kaiapoi District High School. Later he served his apprenticeship as a joiner with Mr Berry, St Asaph Street, Christchurch, subsequently working at his Wad© in Auckland and Wellington. He was an efficient violinist, and took part in orchestras in the'towns in which ho resided. He was a member of Court Woodford A.O.F. His brother, Corporal R. Hayman,.was reported wounded in October. Private David Evans, reported to have died from wounds in France, was the only son of Mrs M. Evans, of Filleul Street, Dunedin. He was educated at Moray Place School and was a labourer by occupation. He left with the Fourth Reinforcements, enlisting at Dunedin. He -was at that time in his twenty-ninth year. Captain S. M. McGee, of the Headquarter's Staff, Christchurch, has been informed that his son, Private S. C McGee, who was wounded in the left arm .'n France, on September 27, has reco73red, and' has returned to his Tegiment. He left with the Canterbury draft of the Fourth Reinforcements, and has been on service without leave since the departure of that body. Mr Henry Benny, of 360, Harewood Road, Christchurch, has received news that his son, who was wounded on September 15, and was in the Walton-on-Thames Hospital, is now in the Convalescent Home. Mr Benny has also been informed by' private cable that another son, who was wounded on October 1, is progressing favourably. Mr and Mrs Edward E. Bax, Woodend, have received cable advice that their son, Private Charles Bax, of the Twelfth Reinforcements, who was wounded in September, has been transferred to the Convalescent Depot, Hornchurch.
