PERSONAL NOTES. Mrs Henderson, of Inglewood, and formerly of Little Akaloa, has received news that her son, Private Selwyn Henderson, has been killed in action in France. This is the second boy of the family who has laid down his life for tho cause.

Mr Macann, of Ohoka, in July received notice from the Defence authorities that his son, Private George Macann," of tho Fourth Reinforcements, had died of wounds, but letters just received from the front show that he was killed in action and died instantaneously Mr Macann has received a letter from Chaplain Taylor and another from Private Bring, telling of the death of Private Macann, and Captain Grey, who commanded his company, writes "he died like a hero, beating off tho attack. I was proud of nim." Private Macann was through the Gallipoli campaign before going to France.

Mr C. A. Loughnan, of Paimerston North, has been informed that his son, Lieutenant 0. H. Loughnan, R.F.A., was slightly wounded in tho face on September 12. Lieutenant Loughnan returned to the trenches, and had tho misfortune to be again wounded in the big battle on September 15. He is now in the Red Cross Hospital at Staples, in France, and though his wounds are severe, they aro not of a dangerous nature.

Mr T. M. Wilford, M.P., has received a cablegram announcing that his son, Lieutenant J. M'L. Wilford, is in Brockenhurst Hospital, where he was sent from the front ill, not wounded as reported last week. The message adds that Lieutenant Wilford is now convalescent

Sapper John William Dadson, killed on September 8, was an Auckland-born lad, son of Mr J. W. Dadson, of Morningside, belonging to the Customs service. Ho was twenty-one years of age. News was received oh Wednesday by Mrs A. Head, of Kaiiicn, of the death of hor youngest son. Private Joseph Head, who was killed in action on August 24. Ho was for some time engaged in farming operations in tao inter-Wanganui district. He was a native of Kanieri, and about twenty-sis years of age. He joined the forces m Australia.

Lieutenant-E. H. T. Kibblewhite, of the Wellington Regiment, killed in action, had just been awarded tho Military Medal for distinguished service in tho field. A London cablegram, dated September 22. stated that Lieutenant Kibblewhite "cook com? mand when his senior olfker was injured, rallied the men and drove tho enemy from advanced positions. Signaller Wyndham Treasure, reported missing, is the oldest son of Mr It. R. Treasure, late railway locomotive foreman at Timam, but now retired and living at 24, Ettrick Street. Invercargill. lio was born at Paimerston South and is thirty-two years of age. When quite youhg his parents mored to Invercargill. Ho was educated at the South,School. He served his tune in tho engineering trade, and when twenty years of age left Bluff for England, 'where ho spent some weeks with his uncles. Then ho set sail for Canada, where he spent some years. Four years ago he returned to his native land to see his parents. After a short stay in New Zealand he went io Western Australia, where he enlisted. .After -ending some time in Egypt he-went ?o France.

Private Charles Stuart Kelly, a son of Mr J. Liddcl Kelly, who formerly was on the staff of the "Lyttefton' Times," and a brother of Mr J. S. Kelly, a Christchurch was reported wounded, and now Mr Kelly, sen. has received a second message stating that ' the soldier is seriously ill Private Kelly was born in Auckland, and ,was educated partly in Auckland and partly in Christchurch. On leaving school he became a proof-reader, and subsequently a reporter, and in that capacity worked in Gisborne, Blenheim, Whangarei, Stratford and Wellington. .Ho left for the front originally with the Third Reinforcements, and took part in the Gallipoli campaign. About a year ago Private Kelly was invalided home, suffering from enteric, and on his recovery ho was posted to the Ota go Battalion of the Tenth Reinforcemonts.

At a meeting of the committee of the Sb Albans Cricket Club last evening, the president (Mr F. C. Raphael) spoke in feeling terms regarding the great loss sustained by the club through the death of Lieutenant R. G. Hickmott, and moved the following resolution : " Words are inadequate to express tho profound grief, or to place .on record the deep sense of bereaven.tut felt bv the members of the Sb Albans Cricket Club by the death of I Rupert George Hickmott. The nobility i of character that characterised Rupert ! Hickmott was exemplified right up to ! the end of his career. His true manhood, which was reflected in all ho did, both on and off the cricket field, was • never better shown than t in his last heroic action. The committee of the St Albans Cricket Club conveys its sincere and heartfelt sympathy with Mr and Mrs Hickmott and family in their irreparable los'b, and we desire to state that m a great trial like this Rupert died as they'would have wished, fighting for his King and country. The motion was . carried, those present standing- The meeting then adjourne i for five minutes as a token of respect to Lieutenant Hickmott Trooper' Theodore Laugesen, who died of pneumonia in hospital in France, was educated at tho Normal and Kaikoura Schools. He enlisted for service in the Doer war, but was rejected on account of being under age. Hti enlisted and was accepted' for the Fourth Reinforcements, and fought through the Galliooli campaign in the 4th Waikato Mounteds.
