WORST IN HISTORY OF VICTORIA. MANY LIVES LOST. Br T«lograph—Preua Association— Copyright MELBOURNE, September 26. Tho flood is the worst in the history of the State. A boy of eleven fell into a drain and was drowned.
Largo passenger boats on the Maribyrnoiig River were wrecked, and telegraphic communication was seriously interrupted. At Werribco an old man delivering milk had his waggon capsized. He hung on to a fence for an hour with onlv his head abovo water, and finally sank. Tho Werribco overflowed, submerging all low-lying lands at Seymour. Mr Chir.nick's %vife and four children were sheltering on the roof of a house when it collapsed. The father and children were drowned anckiho wife was rescued unconscious, with a dead baby clasped in her arms. Several boats laden with rescued people capsized, but the occupants Mere saved.
ROYAL SHOW OPENED. (Received September 26, 10.85 p.m.) MELBOURNE, September 26. Despite tho incessant rain and floods, the Royal Show has been opened.
