NORTHERN. • The monthly meeting of the General Committee- of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association waa r held yesterday morning. There was an fourteen members. Mr 1, Leech (president) was in th© chair. ,A motion of sympathy with Sir Or. J* Starky in the death of his son at tn«i front was passed. It was also resolved to forward a letter of sympathy to M* T. R. Cresswell on the death of his father, Mr R. M. Cresswell, and appreciative reference was mado to. the deceased gentleman's service to the farmers of Canterbury in establishing the reputation of prime Canterbury mutton on the London market. - The chairman reported that Messrs "Wadey and Efford's tender of £205 for the erection of new cattle peas wasao. copied. ~ ' . , ft was decided to dispose of the snowi privileges by auction. Mr Johns gave some particulars of the side shows to be run in the patri« otic carnival connected with the show. He stated that there would bona mock court, and suggested that a pro* duce stall should take'its place. , I* was decided to act upon the suggestion, and to canvass the farmers- of the dis« tract for contributions to the stall. It was left to Messrs Johns and Foster to arrange for the luncheon on same lines as last year, the ladies to be asked to lend assistance in collecting provisions and serving lunch. Mr W. Mackenzie was elected treasurer in succession to Mr M. J. Ltnsky. A letter was received from Mr \>. Xicholls offering £5 5s for special prises ■ ia the. sheep-classes. »
