A sensational ball raid occurred on the stock market following the Maine elections, and stocks seated to new high records. Steel commons went up to 105$, and Bethlehem steel, which recently slumped, recovered twenty points, nil due to the belief that the chances favour Mr Hughes’s election, ensuring a strong protective policy, and negativing tho agitation of the Government* foy the ownership of munitions plants as a first step towards Government ownership of other industries.
