HAGLEY CLUB. P. A. LAURIE WINS'CHAMPIONSHIP. The final match of 36 holes of the Hagley Park Golf Club's championship was played on Saturday between G. Boulton and P. A. Laurie, and resulted in a win for Laurie by 4up and 3to play. The winner played most consistent golf all tho morning, his op- : poncnt never settling down. After baulking tho first hole in Vs. Laurie won tho second a.nd third, and ml w at the end of the first nine From hero on by steady golf ho increased his lead to 8 up at lhe finish of the first 18 holes. Laurie, 4 up Two perfect toe shots at the eleventh hole were just on the edge of tho trreen, but neither player got dead, end a ha.lf in 4 -c----eulted. Laurie, 4 up. The twelfth hole saw several weak shots by both players through tho green, and a ha.lt in 6 left Laurie 4 up. The drives were both weak at. the thirteenth hole, and similar seconds left the players long thirds to reach the green. Boulton nlayed a good shot and was well on. out Laurie hooked, and his fourth placed him on the green. Boulton holed in 3to Laurie s". Laurie, 3 up. < ... At the fourteenth hole both were badly nwav from the tee. and again short with their seconds. A half in 5 was tho Laurie, 3 up and 4 to go. Laurie's tee shot at the fifteenth placed him nicely on, but Boulton's was to the right of the green. Boulton failed to cet his pecond dead. Laurie nut his second dead, winning the holo and the championship with a. 3 to a 5. Laurie, 4 up and 3 to play. The winner undoubtedly played tho betier golf of the two and the firs 1 , round in the mornin? savo him a big pull oyer his opponent. Boulton played better in tho afternoon, doing the first nine holes in S 3, but the margin of lead over him was too great. Evelyn Cunningham. Misses Horrel and Fear were equal second. KAIAFOI CLUB. The semi-final of the united foursomes champioiujiip oi 'the Kaiapoi Club war, played on Saturday. Following ore the results: —Miss G. Pavitt and J. Martin beat Mias Lvnskev and T. Butcher; Miss M. M'Grt-gor and' G. Tcmpleten beat Miss Hiatt and J. Pavitt.
