■ * "—■ In the Durham Street South Methodist Church, on Thursday evening, the Kcv rv. Turner delivered an interesting lecture on Loudon and Rome. The speaker crave personal experiences of troves in these cities. The address was illustrated by fifty-six excellent views of London and seventy views of K There was a large attendance on Thursday evening at St Mark's School, when the annual concert i" aid ot tbc Opawa School picnic was given.. Both as an entertain- ■ raent and financially the concert -was a great success. Various items were given hv the pupils and scholars, and among those assisting were Mrs C. E. Bell. Misses Lain* Thompson,- E. Cousins, G. Hopping, Alice Pvcroft and Irene Franklin. Messrs to. Rrownio F. Macdonald, J. Schneider and Masters .1. Irvine, B. Horrey, M. Johns and W. Jones. Mr K. W. Morgan was the PI ThV Linwood branch of the Salvation Army, now tinder tho command of Ensign and Mrs Green, celebrated their twentyeighth anniversary on August 2", and the services were very sucoessiul. Oil Thursdny night '.he annual tea was held, and the hall was crowded. The tea was followed by n musical meeting. Vocal and instrumental items were given by members of the corps, assisted by Miss Andrews, Captain Hawkins, Bn'.her 13. Stone, Mt Blakely, tile Kvdenham Salvation Army songsters, and a trio of Sydenham bandsmen. The report and balance-sheet shewed that the corps had made good progress during the past year. Adjutant Macsulay conducted »11 services.
