EXPRESSION OF THANKS.

• TO THE EDITOR. V Sir.—Four months ago Miss Gully and I came to New Zealand from South' Australia, at the invitation of your Minister, the Hon Mr Bussell, to t'each tho masseuses and workers the MacKenzio methods for the recovery of paralysed muscles, and now from'the far north to the utmost south these principles are being used. To-day I leave for Adelaide, and Miss Gully, at the request of the Minister, is remaining a little longer, and I want to thank everybody for their kiudness to us. We have had practically nothing but love from end to end of the islands, and it has been grand. Mr Bussell, through the Health Department, lias not left a stone unturned to help the scheme on to success, and. thanks to the wholehearted support of the medical profession, without which, our visit was vain, this scheme is giving promise of fulfilment. Every child that is doing its exercises and wearing its splint, every mother who is doing her best at the instigation of the doctor and ,teacher, furthers the work, and this treatment,, if carried out, means much, for from the useless muscle to the recovered boy there is a definite line of treatment laid down. But, the one who teaches must know his job. Let- every father consult the doctor, and if the doctor does not know of anyone proficient, the Health Department has a complete list of names of those qualified to teach, for, without tho definite knowledge, this treatment, must be aiv utter failure—nay, worse. One country child was brought to me. “We had yo-and-so up from the city; she taught us.” How dared she do it? She had been present at one demonstration only, at which really nothing had been taught. T blame no one for net know-; ing, or wanting to know, this treat- 1 me.nt—it is only one branch M mas- . sage; but to pretend to possess a knowledge that one has not I There is one of your workers well suited to lead, and thnt name 1 have submitted to the Minister. Right here 1 want to thank my fellow-workers for their keen sympathy, their willingness •to learn, and, their hearty support, and thank you all*: This work is God’s, for the children’s 1 sake, and I know I have your hearty co-operation.—l am, etc., , 1 FLORENCE BEVLLAQFA, t August 28,1916* v
