RastnUsseu, J. Moody, A. H. M'lndoe, T. R. Hailcy, F. G. Clarke,- G. Foster (second occasion). Returned to duty—Private L. F. Smith. PERSONAL NOTES. Mr T. Crawford, of Ashburton, has received official advice that his son, Trooper James Crawford, who was recently reported to be seriously wound- 1 ed, is now out of danger. Mr Crawford has two other sons with the forces, one, Private T. Crawford, was wounded at Gallipoli and is now an inmate of Grcv Towers Hospital, England, the other, Private Robert Crawford,, is in camp at Trentham. Details of the death of Lieutenant Stanley Moore aro contained in- a letter received bv his wife, who lives in College Road, Auckland. Lieutenant Moore before, enlisting was chief inspector of physical education under the Education Department. The letter, which is from his commanding officer, states that he died on July 2 as the result of a wound received several nights previously, when tho troops were conducting a raid again&t the German trenches. "He was a very gallant officer," says tho writer, " and all who knew uirn admired his bravery and many qualities'." The officer saysho had recommended Lieutenant Mooro for a Military Cross, which ho richly deserved. In the course of some further particulars the writer says that Lieutenant Moore was in charge of a trench mortar battery, and three times the battery assisted in cutting the wire guarding the German trenches, enabling tho New Zealand infantry to get in without difficulty. Gunner F. E. Stubberfield, wounded, is the son of Mr T. J. Stubberfield, 45, ,St James 'Street, Lin wood. He is twenty-eight years of age and wu.s educated at the Richmond School. Ho enlisted in "Wellington in the artillery of the Tenth Reinforcement*, and after spending a short time in Egypt went to tho front in France, where ho had been three months before he was wounded.

Sapper W. B. Cinders, Fifth Reinforcements, wounded in head and arm, on July 30, whilst in action in Franco, is tho third son of Mr B. P. Gindcrs, dentut, late of Tiiaaru, and grandson of the late Dr Ginders, of Rotorua Sanatorium. He was for some years a member of Poneko Football Club. Corporal Robert Ruben Rooney, who died on August 21 from meningitis, enlisted from Otira, where he had worked for the past five years as shift boss in the tunnel. He was very popular with his comrades, and took a. leading part iiv all local events; He left New Zealand with the first Tunnelling Corps in the latter part of last,, year.
