DROPS DEAD IN STREET.

Mr Thos. M'Millan, aged thirty-two years, dropped dead in the street at Kaiapoi shortly after ten o'clock on Saturday night. Ho had come to Kaiapoi from Waikuku to. visit some friends, and was about to return home in his motor-car when he died! Mr T. A. B. Bailey, Coroner, held an inquest yesterday afternoon. Medical evidenco wa.s given to the effect that Mr M'Millan was a sufferer from angina pectoris, and a verdict to that effect was returned. Mr M'Millan was a well-known j.nd popular resident of the Waikuku district. He was tho third son of Mr William M'Millan, of Saltwater Creek, and was employed at Andrew's twine works. He took a very keen interest in all local affairs and was librarian for some years, much of tho success of the library being due to his efforts. He .was also a member of school committee, captain of the Waikuku Rifle Club and a member of the Ran§iora Orange Lodge- It was largely ue to his efforts that the Waikuku Hall was enlarged. He leaves a widow and four young children.
