POLICE COMMISSION..
CONSTABLE APPEALS AGAINST DISMISSAL. , [Per Press Associ.mox.] GREYAIOUTH, August 18. Air H. AY. Bishop, S.AI., Police Inspector Norwood and Air Crowtlier, si retired Customs officer, have completed taking evidence here on tho charges that led to tho dismissal of Peter Alaloney from the Police Force. Alaloncy was dismissed for alleged gross misconduct in that ho received the sum of £4 IDs by falsely representing the same to be owing to Patrick Dinar:, by whom the vouchers were signed', for seavengering fees. Dinan said thnt he did .not at any time do the work and did hot know where the police latrines were. Maloney denied absolutely stating that tho work was done by Dinan, and produced a letter from Dinan in which Dinan said he was told that ho was not attending to the latrines regularly, and declaring that he attended them twice weekly m warm weather and once a week in cold weather. This letter Dinan said ho copied from a letter written by Alaloney. The letter in question was not produced at the official inquiry prior to Maloney’s dismissal. The evidenco before the commission was mainly on the question of the credibility of the commission’s report. ; . , „ The Comitnssioners’ finding is returnable to tho Government before August 31.
