Lance-Corporal Romulus Henderson, Wilson, who. was reported killed in action on July 30. was the elder son of Air and Mrs W. S. Wilson, of ,61, Sonth Crescent Hoad, . Addington, Christchurch. He left Christchurch with the .Eighth Reinforcements. Before enlisting he was in tho employ of the Bank of Australasia for about four years. He was educated at Barfield and at the Boys’ High School. He was an enthusiastic member of the New Brighton Motor Boat Club. Private Wilson had always been interested ip, military mat--tbrs, and was a sergeant in.tho Territorials for a considerable time. He was twenty-two years of ag6 at-the time of his death. His brother Clarence is in the camp at Feathcvston, having enlisted in tho Eighteenth. Reinforcements.

Mr R. Mathieson,' of Ashburton, received advice on Thursday that liis sou. Rifleman RR’J. Mathieson, has been wounded by shell lire while fighting in France. •

Lieutenant John M’Go wan, killed in action, was a son of the late Mr R. S. M’G-owanj who was for many years manager of the Government Life Insurance Department in Dunedin. Ho was born in that city, and’ was in his twentieth year. Alter attending school he went to Effglalid about six years ago to continue his educatipu at Sherborne School, Dorset, and was there when the call came, and he enlisted in the Devonshire Regiment. Sergeant W. J. Gliddon, reported missing, believed to have been killed on July 14, in France, was the youngest son of Mr James Gliddon, Harper Street, Timaru. He was educated at the Timaru South and Pleasant Point Schools. When war was declared he was travelling for Messrs W. Scqullar and Co., merchants, Dunedin, and enlisted with the Fifth Reinforcements. He was in action in Gallipoli on August 7, and was on the Peninsula until the evacuation, and .left for France early in April. Ho was a young man of sterling qualities, and was very popular. Corporal A. E. C. Bean, light trench battery, attached to the Third Battalion N.Z.R.8., who was killed in action 1 in France, was the only son of Mr E. R. Bean, postmaster at. Woodville, Hawke’s Bay. He was twenty-two years of age, and was educated at the Nelson College. Corporal Bean was.a fine gymnast, and wou the championship for gymnastics at the coliege four vears in succession. He won his marksman’s badge before leaving New Zealand, and during dune, in Franco, die received his certificate as trench battery instructor.

Trooper George J. Oldridgo, reported wounded in Franco on August 5, is twenty-two year's of age. He spent his birthday recently in France. . Trooper Oldridgo left with the Seventh Reinforcements, but. while in Egypt he transferred' to the artillery, as a driver. He was educated at the North Linwood School. He is the eldest son* of Air and Mrs J. C. Oldridge, of Hereford Street, Linwood, and was employed in the firm of Oldridgo Bros., coal merchants. Private John C. Ridder, who lias been reported wounded in France, belonged to Lochiel, Southlands Ho is twentythree years of ago, and was the second member of the family to enlist. His brother was wounded in the operations on Gallipoli.

Sergeant A. Amos, who'was reported severely wounded in the fighting at El Human, on August 7, is the only son of Mrs A.’ Amos, of Wakanui, Ashburton. Sergeant Amos was born at Wakanui, and was educated at 'the Ashburton High School. He took a great interest in military affairs, and was a good marksman. He left with the Mounted Division of the Sixth Reinforcements, and took part in, the Gallipoli operations until Ihe evacuation. Sergeant Amos was transferred to tho Camel Corps prior to the El Rinnan engagement.
