CANTERBURY MICROSCOPICAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of tho Canterbury Microscopical Society was held in Mi B. 1». Stark’s rooms on Thursday, evening, Mr C. B. Morris presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors. In continuation of the arranged course, Mr S. Lindsay - introduced, tho subject of “ Vorticellte.” Be described its structure, its method of reproduction, and its, habitat, and illustrated his remarks with a number ot drawings on the blackboard. In the discussion which, followed Mr Morris described the local species, also illustrating his remarks. ■ ... •, • The Society is now in the position of possessing' a microscopic lantern, and appreciation was expressed during the evening to those members who had helped to build it and make it a suocess. Mr Stark was the demonstrator. and exhibited a large number qJ glides' on various subjects, including some on microscopic-photography. The meeting concluded with votes ot thanks to the various speakers, to Mr 13 E. Stark, a,nd to Mr Falk for ms gift, of watch-glasses for the use of' the society.
